DIY Healing Baths to Support Your Immune System
There’s nothing like a warm bath to change your mood and help you unwind after a long, hard day. But did you know that bathing can actually benefit your overall health? With the right ingredients, a simple soak can help support your immune system, detoxify the body, and restore a sense of calm—especially during cold and flu season.
Bathing with Clay
It’s amazing that something as natural as clay can be so good for your skin, hair, and body. Clay’s slightly negative charge attracts positively charged toxins, helping to pull impurities out of the body and skin. It also gently exfoliates, soothes inflammation, and leaves your skin soft and clean.
Which clay should you choose?
Normal to Oily Skin: French Green Clay — rich in minerals like magnesium, calcium, potassium, zinc, and selenium. Excellent for detoxifying and clarifying.
Normal to Dry Skin: French Caramel Clay — a mineral blend that cleanses while softening and nourishing the skin.
Sensitive or Thin Skin: White Kaolin Clay — the gentlest clay, perfect for delicate or easily irritated skin.
Clay Bath Recipe:Add up to 3 cups of clay to a warm bath and soak for 20 minutes. If you prefer, try a foot soak instead: mix ¼ cup of clay into a basin of warm water for the same detoxifying benefits.
DIY Epsom Salt Bath Blends
Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) is a time-tested bath ingredient known for soothing sore muscles, supporting relaxation, and helping the body flush toxins. It’s rich in magnesium—a mineral that plays a vital role in over 600 enzymatic reactions related to muscle function, nerve health, and energy production.
You can customize your own healing bath salts at home with a few simple ingredients you can find at most natural markets. Each recipe starts with Epsom salt as the base, then adds a touch of baking soda to soften the water, dried herbs for added benefit, and a small amount of essential oil for aromatherapy.

After Your Bath
Bathing can be deeply relaxing but can also leave your skin a bit dry. To lock in hydration, apply Simple Body’s Body Butter (Lavender, Unscented, Himalayan Magic, or Citrus) immediately after bathing while your skin is still slightly damp. This helps seal in moisture and restore softness.
Carve out a little time this week to make your own healing bath blends—it’s an easy, affordable, and natural way to turn self-care into healthcare.

Emily's Sensitive Skin Journey, Tips, and a Skin-Boosting Recipe!
Hey Simple Body Fam—it’s Emily! 💛 I wanted to share my personal skincare story in hopes it helps anyone struggling with dryness, irritation, or sensitivity. After using a prescription retinoid, my skin became inflamed, itchy, and painfully dry. Nothing worked—until I simplified everything. By focusing on gentle, barrier-repairing products like Barrier Defense and Brighten + Boost (and making a few lifestyle shifts), I finally restored my skin’s health. Here’s what really helped me heal my skin barrier naturally.
DIY: All Purpose Cleaner + Yoga Mat Spray Recipe
DIY All-Natural Yoga Mat Spray (That Works Everywhere!)
I don’t know about you, but when I finally roll out my yoga mat after a long day, I want to breathe deeply—not smell a harsh cleaner. That’s why I started making this all-natural, all-purpose cleaner years ago. It’s simple, gentle, and fresh, with a little antibacterial power from essential oils.
The best part? It doesn’t just work on yoga mats—you can use it on countertops, bathroom surfaces, or anywhere that needs a quick, natural refresh.
Why I Love This Recipe
It’s cleaning without chemicals. Most conventional cleaners use synthetic fragrances and harsh antibacterial agents that can irritate skin or leave behind residues. This blend relies on vinegar and pure essential oils to do the heavy lifting—naturally.
The essential oils in this spray aren’t just for scent. Tea Tree, Grapefruit, Orange, and Lemon oils are known for their antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, helping to cut through grime and keep your mat (and home) fresh and safe.
DIY Yoga Mat Antibacterial Spray
What You’ll Need:
1 cup White Vinegar
10 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
10 drops White Grapefruit Essential Oil
10 drops Orange Essential Oil
10 drops Lemon Essential Oil
1 cup Distilled Water
How to Make It:
Combine all ingredients in a glass spray bottle (8–16 oz works great).
Shake gently before each use.
Lightly mist over your yoga mat, let sit for 1–2 minutes, and wipe clean with a soft cloth.
Allow your mat to air dry before rolling it up again.
That’s it—no residue, no toxins, just a bright, uplifting scent that makes every stretch feel a little more refreshing.
A Few Tips
For a stronger clean: Add a touch more vinegar or a few extra drops of Tea Tree oil.
For a softer scent: Reduce citrus oils slightly and add a drop or two of lavender.
Always test first: If your yoga mat has a special coating or finish, do a quick patch test.

Also, conventional bug repellent can contain toxic ingredients for humans as well as bugs. Here are some ingredients of concern: N, N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide (DEET), Cyfluthrin, Permethrin, and Pyrethroids. But did you know that some plant oils have a natural bug repellent? So, here are a few DIY recipes to keep you sane and bug free this summer.
